Does anyone know how to re do old lamp shades?

I have two OLD lamps and shades,but the shades have faded over the years and I havent been able to find and more like them so Id like to re do them

If they have fabric on them you can get the fabric paint. If they are the old paper kind you could decoupage them. Add the thin rope around them, its available in a lot of colors. You could also add flowers and put a glass pearl in the center of each one, I covered an entire shade by taking apart silk flowers then stacked 3 layers and glue them on.

I have black velvet shades with gold/silver top and bottom of shade . The gold/silver strip is about an inch wide and looks like some sort of thick strip of material. The velvet looks horrid in some spots and would like ideas on what to do to match my new furniture .(its grey) Cant afford new. Please help

Purchase $1.00 scarves at your local 99cent store. Enough to wrap the shades You can use two three colors that fit your decor. Safety pin at beginning and end shir to create pleated look. The look will be great and the light from the lamp something different.
