DIY Shibori Table Runner and Table Mats

I picked up a linen and silk blend tle cloth from a thrift store perfect for upcycling into matching shibori dyed table runner and table mats. They are super easy to make, and are quickly transformed witht eh Japanese shori dye technique. Start by cuttng out your table mats and table runner (for size suggestions check out the detailed blog post here).
For the table runner, use a running stitch to gather the width of the table runner. Tie around the width tightly, where you tie the indigo dye will not penetrate.
For the table mats find the central point, allow the fabric to drape downwards from this central point, tie with rubber bands.
Prepare your dye, dye the tanle runner and table mats, dry and iron. Check out the video for the dying process if you would like more detail, although all dye kits should come with instructions to follow.
Cut out lining fabric, place right sides together for table mat and lining fabric. Stitch all round except a 5" gap. Repeat for the table runner.
Trim corners then turn right side out.
Ensure the corners are neatly turned through for rught angles. There are several options for finishing:- press then top stitch all around, or use hemming table or ladder stitch.
Lay you table and enjoy your beautiful upcycled tableware set.
