DIY Witches Brooms

When I saw the tree I used to climb as a kid dying I knew I wanted to keep part of it to save as memories. Luckily for me it was the perfect time of year to take some dead tree branches, a few weeds and a little ingenuity and make a fun and spooky decoration for our front porch. I love them and would enjoy making them but not just for Halloween. I have been looking for instructions just as these for my personal practice however I do not know what a whip knot is or how to tie one. Would you please provide instructions? Thank you

Yes, I'll make a few brooms and decorate them. We had to cut down our dying silver maple this summer and the limbs will work really well. Thanks for the instructions.
