Supplies needed to make a patriotic wreath can be found HERE in my Amazon Shop
- Heart-Shaped Wreath Form (Dollar Tree)
- Denim Ribbon
- Nautical Rope (Dollar Tree)
- Wood Beads
- Gingham Ribbon (Dollar Tree)
- Patriotic Scarf (Dollar Tree)
- Hot Glue Gun
Step 1. Glue the Nautical Rope
Start by hot gluing the nautical rope to the heart-shaped wreath form. You only want to wrap it around 2 of the wire rings. We will be using another material for the 3rd ring.
Step 2. Continue Gluing the Rope
Continue gluing the nautical rope around the wreath form until it is completely covered.
As you add the rope you want to push it close together so it is nice and snug.
Step 3.Cut the Gingham Ribbon
Once you have finished wrapping the rope on the wreath form, you want to cut the gingham ribbon into short pieces about 3″ long.
Cut the ends with a dovetail cut so it is nice and finished.
Step 4. Glue the Gingham Ribbon
Pinch the ribbon in the middle and secure it with glue where the point is to the outside layer of the rope. Repeat this process until it is covered all the way around the wreath.
Step 5. Cut Denim Ribbon
Next up, you want to cut the denim ribbon about 8″ for each piece.
Step 6. Secure the Denim Ribbon
After dove-tailing each piece of denim ribbon; attach the cut denim ribbon to the outer ring of the wreath by folding it around the wire and hot gluing it.
It is quicker to cut out your pieces ahead of time rather than as you go. Don’t forget to cut a dovetail in the denim ribbon too!
Continue gluing the denim ribbon around the wreath until it is completely covered. Next spread each of the ribbons out to fluff up the wreath.
Step 7. Add Wood Beads
To give a little bit of added texture and dimension, hot glue painted blue wood beads around the wreath. I just added them on top of every fifth gingham ribbon or so.
Step 8. Attach a Patriotic Scarf
I found the sweetest patriotic scarf at the dollar store and decided to tie it around the bottom of the patriotic wreath.
Glue a simple piece of jute twine across the back of the wreath form for easy hanging. And that’s it! Your patriotic rope wreath is now complete.
Hang it on your front door or anywhere else in your home and enjoy your holiday decor!
