Make Your Own Pallet Turkey Tom

by Diva of DIY

Meet Turkey Tom! He helps me greet my guests for Thanksgiving Dinner! I bet you weren't surprised when you saw that he was made out of a pallet. It is one of my favorite materials to work with. I did not buy one thing for this project! I used things I already had around. Who doesn't like a project like that!
Supplies:
Using chalk or spray paint mark a guide line to shape your turkey's feathers and cut it out.
Using pallet boards from another pallet start layering feathers on the pallet. This adds the texture that actually "makes" the project!
Using a piece of plywood large enough for the body, draw the turkey body, beak and waddle plus a square and rectangle for a top hat. (See full tutorial for the size I used)
Now you need to paint all the pieces. Using several colors paint the pallet feathers in different colors. Paint the turkey body brown, the beak orange, the waddle red and the top hat black.
While you are at it you might want to make Tom a girlfriend! Use the same basic steps but add a bow to her hair. You can see on the lady turkey I did not make as many layers. I also used spray paint to paint the pallet this time.
Enjoyed the project?
