Vintage Jar Snow Globe...

$6
30 Minutes
Easy
I wasn't the first and I won't be the last... but here it is with my twist to keep your jar from rolling away! ;)
Gather the supplies
Gather your supplies... I used fake snow fluff... if you like you could use epsom salts as the snow if you have those on hand!... or even large sea salt!... I also picked up a vintage styled dinky car, a fake little christmas village tree, bakers twine and a vintage glass top jar...
Cut your twine
Cut two piece of twine about 5" long...
De-base the tree
Pluck the base off of the tree... the scale is out to whack!
Pluck!
...it comes right off!
Load up the truck
Place the tree is the back of the pickup...
Twine through the windows
...then feed the bakers twine through the window... if there are full windows in your dinky you can either pop them out or drill through them with a small drill bit - then thread your twine on a needle and pass it through the windows.
Tie that sucker down
Tie a teeny tiny bow to hold the top of the tree to the roof of the pickup...
Trim the ends
...trim the bow ends...
Secure the tree stump
And then tie the "stump" of the tree to the back of the truck... luckily I could attach the string to the bumper on this little truck... if you are using a small car you could do one string around the whole dinky and middle of the tree... even looping it a couple of times... trust me, it'll look adorable! :)
BAM!... tree is secure
Here is our bitty truck with its Christmas Tree secured.
Get out a little rubber bumper
Now you know those little rubber bumpers? you need just one!
Stick it to the jar
Place it on the side of the jar and then place the jar back down... the bumper will stop the jar from rolling around!... if you want to be doubly sure you could add a second bumper to the other side...
Place the truck and tree
Place your "snow" into the jar and then toss in the truck... it may take some fussing of the snow to get it just right... I also used a pipe cleaner to get any stray snow down from the walls of the jar if it was blocking the view of the truck and tree :)
Tie a bakers twine bow
Put the lid on the jar and tie a twine or ribbon bow around the lid!... this would be the perfect spot to attach a gift tag!... and if you stay tuned to my blog I have some adorable gift tags that I'll be sharing in the coming days that you can download and use for your handmade gifts this Christmas!...
Tada! Christmas in jar!
TADA! here she is!... Stay tuned to the blog for more shots of this little vintage jar snow globe amongst my Christmas decor in the coming weeks!...
