Three Easy DIY Ornament Gift Tags

When given the challenge (along with 13 other bloggers) to create something using clear glass ornaments, I was stumped at first. I knew that I wanted the project to be quick, easy, and functional, but somehow creativity was escaping me. Then, as I was wrapping (*coughcough*) the whopping three gifts I'd purchased thus far it came to me... Gift tags!!
I played around with different mediums for some variety. First, I swirled around some blue and white craft paint inside the ornament for a mottled effect...
And while that was drying, I stuffed a second ornament with white feathers. Next, I grabbed a gold metallic paint pen and freehanded the initials of my gift recipients onto my ornaments. I tied on some wooden snowflakes for a bit of rustic appeal....
And here's my first little feathered friend in action....
For my blue paint ornament, I simply secured it onto an inexpensive grocery store candle with some feather boa cording for a sassy teacher's gift....
For my final gift tag, I decided to go a different route. My son is obsessed with ninja turtles, so I thought a little Raphael-action was just the ticket. I began by stuffing my ornament with green feathers....
I taped off a strip down the middle of my ornament with painter's tape and filled the gap with red multi-surface craft paint. Once it was dry, I added white ovals for the eyes...
Followed by black dots for the pupils. And here's my little ninja in action...
I didn't write my son's name on it since it was pretty clear who it was for, but it would be simple enough to pen an initial on back with a paint pen. So, there you have it! Three different ornament gift tags! And on the cheap, too... This project only cost me the price of the ornaments ($5.99 + tax for a 12 pack) since I already had the other materials at home. Not too shabby! Check out my blog post for more details!!
