Paper Bag Leaf Garland
Have you seen those full beautiful leaf garlands? Me too. I’m not sure how much they cost but I’m pretty sure it’s more than I would spend.
So i did my best to recreate the leaf garland and I think I succeeded 😊
I started with a bunch of paper grocery bags. Approximately 6.
I cut them open so they were in big sheets.
I mixed up my paint color. I was shooting for a yellow/green color.
I set up a work space, spread out my paper sheets and started rolling my paint on.
Paint both sides of the paper. I ran out of paint about half way through but that actually worked out good. I was able to make a slightly different color for the back sides of the paper.
I made my leaf shape and cut it out of cardboard.
I folded the sheets so I could cut several layers at once. And then I traced my leaf pattern on.
See the variation in colors…
Next I took a brown crayon and quickly drew some veins on the leaves.
I had this 3 foot piece of magnolia garland leftover from a previous project so I yep got that would work as a good base to add my leaves to.
The back side of the magnolia leaves are brown so that worked perfect.
I poked a hole in my leaves.
I poked my floral wire through and twisted it.
I found it to be easier to hang the garland up first then add my leaves to it. I just twisted one on at a time.
I really love how it turned out. And guess what? I had everything on hand so it didn’t cost me a thing!!
