Repurposed Wood Shutters Sign for Thanksgiving

You can find wood shutters or saloon-style doors on Freecycle (for free) or at thrift stores . The size of the shutters create a sign that adds impact to your front porch, but doesn't cost you much at all.
Paint the wood shutters with chalk paint. Using chalk paint means you don't have to do any prep work and will give a charming rustic look that compliments the rustic look of the shutters.
Print the letters for your sign using a word processing program. Choose a font that will make a bold impact from a distance.
Use the simple pencil shading technique to transfer the letters to your shutter. Paint the letters and outline with a paint pen to make the letters look a bit more crisp from a distance.
This sign is simple to make and stores away easily in the back of a closet or even under the bed.
