What's in Your Drawers?
I picked up this drawer awhile ago and finally got to do some work on it. The first thing to do was to clean it up. All the screws were removed, the hardware was removed, the drawer sanded and cleaned up.
I patched up the holes with wood filler, let it dry and then sanded it down. Now it was time to paint.
I used Benjamin Moore Simply White to paint the drawer.
My husband cut various pieces of scrap wood to fit inside the drawer. I picked out some different neutral colored paints from my collection of paints.
I fit the boards inside the drawer and moved them around until I had them in the way I wanted. I took the boards out in the same order and then painted them in the colors I had picked. I tried to vary the colors and sizes of boards so the same ones were not together. I really like the blue/gray one in the middle.
Once all the paint was dry, it was time to put the boards into the drawer. I used Gorilla Glue to attach them to the inside of the drawer.
I pressed the drawers in tightly and let it dry overnight. My pieces fit in pretty tight, but you could also weigh the boards down overnight to be sure they are glued in well.
I found this Grateful sign at our 99 Cent Store. Of course, I liked the color! I knew it would be perfect inside the drawer.
I used tiny nails to hang the sign inside the drawer. I hope I can find other word signs to hang in the drawer for each season or holiday.
I know this has been a really tough year for everyone, but I believe we can still find so many things to be grateful for. I have my family, friends, home, food, and so much more!
