How to Make a Modern Farmhouse Holiday Wreath

Fortunately, there aren't a lot of supplies needed for this project. While most of the supplies are pretty generic, I've linked the ribbon and sprigs that I used here if you want exactly the same look (it's so pretty)!

1. 2 1/2" Ribbon (Quantity 75 feet)
2. 12" Sprigs (Quantity 7)
3. 14" Foam Wreath Form (Quantity 1)
4. Scissors
5. Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
6. Pom & Tassel Maker (Optional)

For each sprig, cut 7 - 8" pieces of ribbon cutting the ends in a snake tongue.

To make room for the ribbon, pull apart and open all of the branches.

Tie each ribbon in a single over-under pull. No need to knot it! Fluff the ribbon a bit so the pretty side has a clear view. You can see the sprig on the left is from above and the one on the right is the back side.

Plug in your glue gun. As it heats up, turn the end of the ribbon to an angle as shown.

With a 2 1/2" bead of glue, attach the end of the ribbon to the wreath form. Then wrap the ribbon around several times until its long enough for the entire sprig greenery to lay on top of ribbon plus an extra wrap or two beyond.

Dispense a 12" bead of glue that starts about 5" off of the ribbon and extends up to the top of where the greenery will lay. Curve a sprig to match the curve of the wreath form and press down into the glue until it's secure. See in the picture, how the stem isn't on the ribbon!

Continue doing this all the way around the wreath until it is covered and all the sprigs have been used.If you like it just like this, you can leave it here! Press the branches in toward the wreath form and fluff the ribbon until you're happy with its appearance. I really think it's pretty enough to leave it at this step. However, if you want a feature ribbon pom, continue to the next step.

If you're like me, you move around your decorations each year. That means that I really never know how I'll be hanging my wreaths. For this reason, I'm adding a "long tail" ribbon to the wreath from.

With a tail at your ready, you can loop it around a door hook or simply let it dangle if you don't need it for hanging.

If you are the same, continue on to this step. Simply eyeball the length that looks good to you. I made mine roughly 18" on each end. Then weave it under the branches and ribbon ties.

Yes, you can actually do this before attaching the sprigs, which is a little easier to get it in place. However, I don't like working on the wreath with the extra dangling ribbon; so for this reason, I wait until the end.

This is totally optional, but it looks really cute so I say you give it a go!

To make the ribbon pom, the easiest way is to use a pom & tassel maker. I've tried a few of these and prefer the Red Heart version.

All you need to do is wind the ribbon around the maker about 8-10 times. Tie the center, trim the ends, and FLUFF!

Look how pretty it it!

Use your long tails to attach the ribbon pom to your wreath. That's it!

Now push all your sprig branches in toward the wreath, adjust any of the ribbon ties that need fluffing or twisting, and get ready to display!

If you have a wreath stand, this is a great option for this wreath because of the sparkly glitter. You can position it near candles (I love flameless) and other bling-ful items, such as these glitter pine cones that I made.

I hope you enjoy making this wreath. It will add such a perfect spark to your holiday decor and, because it's not red and green, you can put it out early and get the holiday vibes running all through your house. Que the Christmas music!
