Rake Wreath Door Project

Give a rusty rake new life as a succulent plant rake wreath. These rake heads make great backdrops for all kinds of wreaths.
This wreath works for any season of the year. The faux succulents are so colorful and the bold earth tone colors are definitely my thing.
The rake head is a multi-project piece that’s good to have in the junk stash. I’ve the rake to make a Fall wreath and a Christmas or Winter wreath.
I bought all the succulents at the Dollar Tree. I buy a few every time I'm in the store.
I decided to try out a new wreath hanger idea. I had this belt from the thrift store and I threaded it through the flat piece of the rake head and just buckled it up. You can size it to the proper length for hanging.
Some of the succulents had clips and some had short stems. I removed everything from the succulent head.
Next I pulled a piece of wire through the two screw holes at the top of the rake head and twisted the wire together to prevent the belt from slipping through the open part.
I puled the belt through and buckled it. I laid out the succulents in a pattern I thought looked okay then I grabbed the glue gun.
I started with the top left succulent and then went down. The succulents got shifted or moved completely during this process.
A white door makes a good backdrop for the rake wreath. ( find another of my rake wreaths here.)

What a great idea! I think I even have an old rake stashed in my garage. Can’t wait to try this!

Have a question about this project?
It’s interesting how many items can be used for floral decor.
How did you attach the belt to the hanger? Most wreath hangers curl away from the door. I am asking because I love this! I will be going to my stash of old yard equipment to find something today!!!
How did you attach or hang the "wreath" from the door itself?
