How to Make an Easy Fabric Scrap Christmas Tree Using Old Shirts
I have always loved the rustic and charming look of a Fabric Scrap Christmas Tree. They remind me of the old days and visiting with my Grandparents. My Grandmother had made a Fabric Tree and it was always sitting in the middle of her kitchen table during the Holidays.
So, I decided I would give it a try. I used an old plaid shirt that my son has outgrown to create this adorable Fabric Christmas Tree that I will place in the middle of my kitchen table just like my Grandmother did so many years ago.

Step 1. Insert Floral Foam
Insert floral foam into the base for the tree and hot glue.
Step 2. Insert Dowel into Floral Foam
Make a hole in the center of the floral foam with a dowel. Fill the hole with glue and then reinsert dowel.
Step 3. Cut Scrap Fabric
Cut fabric at a width of about 1 1/2".
I started with 12" long strips and then drop to 10" strips and so on. I think 12" was to long for the pot I used so I wound up cutting the strips down.
Step 4. Tie Fabric to Dowel
Tie the fabric to the dowel. Rotate the direction of the fabric as you work your way up and around the dowel.
Step 5. Trim the Tree
I trimmed the fabric and continued working with the tree until it was the shape and size I was looking for.
Step 6. Add a Topper.
I added a star to the top of my tree. You can leave the top bare or add anything you like. The choice is yours.
