How To Make A Fun Cork Christmas Gang

My favourite part about Christmas is the crafting I do for it. I like to make my own decorations and to make them from stuff I already have.

Recently I had fun making a gang of Christmas characters (superheroes) out of old wine and Champagne corks

I actually keep my old wine and Champagne corks throughout the year and have a jar full of them.

I also used some felt scraps, cotton wool pads, felt balls and craft wire for this upcycle.

I made seven different Christmas characters from the corks. First I painted the corks with craft paint in the base colour for each cork person.

For some of them like Santa and the elf, I made felt hats. I used the cotton wool pad to trim the hats.

The hat is made from a quarter circle of felt trimmed with cotton wool. I then finished it off with a felt ball on the top.

I made the nutcracker soldier a wool bearskin hat by making a black pompom using a fork.

For the finer details on the cork people, I used acrylic paint pens.

I also used craft wire, like with Rudolph's antlers and of course a red felt ball for his nose.

For the angel, I made felt wings and a wire halo.

The cork gang can be displayed on a mantle or hung as ornaments. to hang as ornaments, add an eyelet screw to the top of the ornament. Or sew some thread to the top of a hat.

The seven Christmas cork characters I made were, gingerbread man, an angel, elf, snowman, Rudolph, nutcracker soldier and Santa. You can see more detailed instructions for each character on the blog.

I fancy making some more of these cork figures. Who would you add to the Christmas gang?
