How to Make a Gold Christmas Bell Cluster
Have you ever seen something that you wanted so badly, but couldn’t justify the price? That’s how I was with the precious gold bell clusters I saw all over social media. Every where I looked they were either out of stock or $50+. After scouring the internet with no luck, I decided to try my hand at a DIY version. I think they turned out great and I am loving the $15 price tag. I’m excited to share the process with you so you can make some too!
For this project you will need:
- Bells of your liking. I chose this plastic outdoor bell set from Walmart. They were $2.98 for the set and I used two sets.
- Black spray paint. I prefer flat/matte
- Rub n’ Buff in the color Gold Leaf
- Jute or twine
The First Step
You need to spray paint the bells black. This will give them a nice black base to help them look antique. Be sure to lightly spray the inside of the bells as well! It doesn’t have to be perfect!
The Second Step
Next you will apply the Rub n’ Buff in the color Gold Leaf. It does dry quickly so make sure you work fast!
I find it easiest to use an old paint brush or makeup brush. The goal is to make the bells look antique. You can achieve this look by applying the product in a circular motion.
The Final Step
Now it’s time to tie your bells with jute. There are so many different ways to do this so pick a method that suits your style. I chose to tie each bell with it’s own piece of jute. Then I staggered the bells and tied all of the strands of jute together. Another method is to use one piece of jute and tie the bells at different spots.
I am really pleased with how this project turned out! These bells are exactly what I was looking for at a fraction of the cost of purchasing at a store. This is such a quick and easy project to bring some DIY Christmas decor to your home. 💕
