Clearly I am no green thumb. By this time of year in Pennsylvania, everything is looking a little scraggly. The mums, which were beautiful a few weeks ago, are now dead thanks to a cold snap or two and a lack of watering.
We are hosting Thanksgiving , so I needed my fall porch to stretch just a little bit longer and be a little more vibrant... so here's what I did ... I spray painted my dying, dried-out plants!
So here was the front porch situation.
Give yourself plenty of ventilated space. I did it outside and tried to keep the paint away from the porch. (Maybe use a bigger box so you don't get too much glitter in your mulch .. OOPS!)
First I sprayed the mum "Cherry Red" ... it looks alive again and I will be able to use it for Christmas too!
I added a metallic champagne color to one wilted kale. It ended up looking like a gorgeous frosted plant ... On another one I added glittery gold.
My full blog post has a video of me painting and the exact paint colors I used. Go take a look! I also have better close-ups of these beauties.
I added a silver glitter to the fern, which was already a fall orange-brown.
They dried pretty quickly... With just a bit of spray paint, it's like giving these poor things a second life.
And again, I can incorporate it into my Christmas decor!!!
Now friends, they are still dead plants, so there's only so good this can get. But from a distance on the porch - it looks beautiful!! They really pop.
