Make Over a Christmas Village
I love a good Christmas village. In fact, I think I started collecting Christmas houses when I was a teenager. Every year or so, I would add a house to my collection. This is what the houses look like.
Standard Christmas village houses, right? Nothing special.
I got tired of looking at them in their boring, store-bought, cookie-cutter colors. So I decided to spruce them up. Here’s what I used:
- Mod Podge
- Silver acrylic paint
- Fine gold glitter
The first step was to simply paint them silver but I didn’t want to completely conceal their original colors underneath so I diluted the paint 50%. Equal parts water and paint. I love the way they came out.
Love the way these look!
Next, I wanted to add a bit of sparkle to them so the natural choice is glitter, right? Gold glitter, of course! But just on the roofs.
I love the way these look now!
I put them on this wall shelf I’ve had around for a while. I recently painted it white and I love the way the houses look on here. For more details & other holiday inspiration, visit the blog post below.
