Christmas lights: how to tell which bulb is blown out?

Is there an easy way to find out which bulb is blown out in a string of Christmas lights? Do I have to check each one? Or should I just toss the whole thing?

Most lights are now wired so that if one is out the rest burn. The only way I know how to do what you want is to take a bulb you know burns and replace each bulb in the string with that bulb until they all glow.

Uh, plug them in and see which bulbs do not work. If they are the screw in type, make sure they are not loose. William's video will provide helpful info.

How old is your set? There are so many different styles available; some have removable bulbs that can be replaced (pushed or screwed in). Some styles have bulbs that are permanent. With some styles all lights in the string go out if one bulb is removed, broken, or burned out (usually older styles). If you posted a picture of what style you have, we would be able to give you more specific answers to your particular situation.
