Does anyone have ideas for diy Christmas stocking hangers?

Most of the ideas I've seen ,I have a concern with the stocking and hanger falling on the floor if I put anything of substance in the stocking. Your consideration is appreciated.

If you are putting them on a wood mantle, you can put small nails in the top of the wood that won't be noticeable.

I had the same dilemma in my last 2 houses. Since the mantles were painted wood, I screwed in tiny cup hooks underneath. Used those till I fell over brass stocking holders on clearance somewhere one year similar to this:

I have seen a lot of suggestions on pinterest. You could get a piece of wood, paint it as you want to and attach hooks on the front. Then you put hangers on the back and put it on the wall.
