How to protect a flocked fake tree from wet weather

I'm displaying an artificial flocked Christmas tree as an outside decoration and I'm worried it will get ruined with wet weather. The box says "indoor use only" but it is outside under a porch overhang. Would spraying it with polyurethane provide any realistic protection or should I just hope for a dry spell? Also, can someone give tips on how to keep a flocked tree from shedding?

I agree with keeping it indoors. I have used either hairspray or scotch guard to keep bows in place, but with rain or snow or even ice - it becomes useless and destroys the product anyhow.Helpful Reply -
