Are you a wine drinker and have extra wine corks laying around, waiting for a project? Well, you are in luck! Just in time for Christmas decorating, here is a DIY for you!
Not a wine drinker? You can purchase wine corks online or better yet, ask a local pub to save some for you.
Supply List
- Wine corks - 11 per tree
- Embellishments: Christmas bells, old jewelry, buttons, bows
- Glue gun
- Wire cutters
- Green craft paint (*optional)
- Small artist brush (*optional)
Choosing the corks
- Pick out 11 fairly uniform wine corks
- With green craft paint, paint the end of a few of the wine corks (*optional)
Building your tree
- Glue 4 wine corks, long sides together to make the bottom row
- Glue 3 corks to the top of that row for row two
- Glue 2 corks to the top of row two to make row 3
- Glue 1 cork to the top of row three
Cutting the stand
- Cut one cork in 1/2 with a knife ( I used a serrated kitchen knife). If you have a band saw, this is easier to do
- Glue the cut corks to the center of the bottom of the first row
Add decoration
- Add embellishments using your glue gun
Embellishments
I used:
Small charms, buttons, bells, ribbon, bows, earrings, tiny Christmas ornaments. If using buttons, wire cutters are helpful in removing the shank.
Decoration or ornament
By adding a small screw-in eye hook & attaching a ribbon, you can convert these into ornaments for your tree. They make a cute gift also.

Cute! You are fortunate to get so many used corks, these days even the pubs around here sell mostly screwtops.😛
