Easy Graphic Transfers With Packing Tape
There are a few versions of how to make graphic transfers. I found a way that worked best for me. With this inexpensive trick, you can make personalized decor for your home, gifts for friends and family, and party favors for celebrations.
I used a laser printer to print out a picture of our family.
I have used ink jet as well, however the ink isn't as strong or clear.
I placed a piece of clear packing tape over the photo.
I trimmed it down to just the photo and size I wanted.
I placed it in a pan with water. The photo needs to be totally submerged. Let this soak for 5 minutes.
After the 5 minutes is up, pull out your picture and begin rubbing your fingers on the paper side. The paper will peel right off. You can rinse it in your water as you clean it up.
Be sure to get all the paper off as possible. You can let it soak more if you need to and try again.
Let the photo graphic dry. Sometimes they come out and the tape looks cloudy - don't worry it'll clear right up as it dries.
With photo graphics, you often will lose the stickiness of the tape. I used a little Mod Podge on the back.
I adhered this photo to a candle holder. Let the Mod Podge dry completely. You could do this to endless possibilities - mugs, sun catchers, ornaments, etc.
I added a battery operated tea light to my candle holder.
That's it and it's ready to use.
I also did this by printing out words on paper "Seasoned Olive Oil", and "Grammie & Papa EST. ... " The best part about these is once you remove the paper, the tape is still sticky like a sticker. All I needed to do is stick them onto their surface.
