Do you ever have a project that takes a turn that you did not intend for?!

Well, that was this mirror for me!

I've had this mirror for years but was never a big fan of the gold in the middle. Recently I have been slowly moving from a dark interior to a more light & bright one.

So I decided to paint this mirror white. However, as much as I love how it turned out...It was way too stark looking for the space.

Sure, I could have changed out some accessories but with the amount of seasonal decor I have, it just wasn't going to work.

So I decided I was going to paint it black & distress it a bit.

But first, I wanted to test out some new aged glaze I bought for another project.

So I taped off the mirror and got to work.

This stuff was really easy to use, just paint on and wipe off similar to stain.

I'm excited to use this on a future project, but it wasn't the look I wanted for the mirror.

Since I planned on painted this black, I figured I would experiment a bit.

So I grabbed some sandpaper & started sanding.

Hmm.....this is starting to look interesting. The only problem is, I can't decide if I like it or not for the space.

Here's how it ended up. I rarely struggle when it comes to my home decor - I know what I like & what I don't. But this project is stumping me!!! I can't decide if I should keep it or not - what do you think??

Love or hate it?! Let me know in the comments!

For now, I am going to live with it a little bit longer.

That's the beauty of paint, you can always repaint something if you want to change it up!

YOU CAN DO BETTER...KEEP THE MIRROR BUT RE-PAINT OR ANTIQUE IT. MAYBE ADD SOME COMPOSITE WOOD-LIKE FLOWERS OR STARS...BENDABLE WOOD?

Why not try dry brushing with some black paint to add some highlights/dark lights! May give you a different look.
