I know my page is exploding with pumpkin goodness right now, but 'tis the season. With that being said, if you struggle with carving pretty shapes into pumpkins with knives, this is totally the way to go! These pumpkins are carved with cookie cutters! You can get cookie cutters in almost any size and shape and create great and unique designs in hardly any time at all by hammering them through your pumpkins!
SUPPLIES: -Hammer -Pumpkins / Heirloom Squash (Harder to carve into) -Scooper -Knife -Cookie Cutters -Drill (not pictured / optional)
STEP 1: Cut off the top of your pumpkin Cut out a hole from the top of your pumpkin and remove it from the rest of your pumpkin as you would with any pumpkin you are carving.

STEP 2: Scoop out the seeds Cut off the guts from the circle you cut, and scoop out any seeds and strings from the inside of your pumpkin and throw them away.
STEP 3: Push in a cookie cutter Take a cookie cutter, and place it where you want on top of your pumpkin. Using a hammer, push the cookie cutter through the pumpkin.
STEP 4: Push out the cutter Push out the cookie cutter through the inside of the pumpkin. Remove the pumpkin chunk from the cookie cutter you just used. Repeat steps 3-4 as many times as you desire until you have the design you are going for. Use various shapes and sizes if wanted.
STEP 5: Drill some small holes (optional) If you want some smaller holes to add some detail to your pumpkin, you can use a drill with various size bits to drill holes where you desire.
Now all you have to do is put some flameless tea lights (or regular lights) inside and let them glow! Bonus: these guys look great in the daylight and dark!
If you want your pumpkins to last longer, it is a good idea to soak them in 10 parts water to 1 part bleach for an hour before diving in.
I seriously wanted 15 more pumpkins to try different designs on!
Look at those shadows these guys create when they are lit up! Man, I just love it!
