Antique Keys Wall Decor

I have a bunch of old keys, and have had them in various drawers in various homes for more years than I care to mention. I decided, they needed to go on display in a new room we have just completed.
I got my old keys out of their current drawer
A 50cent piece of wood from the dollar store. I have a few of these in different sizes and shapes in my art room, this onw is 5inches high and 15 inches long.
I painted it twice with a brush and then did a top coat by pouncing the paint on with a round brush to get a texture I like
Then I sketched a "vintage style" design on the wood and painted with a grey paint wash so I could still see my pencil marks.
When the grey was dry, I painted white over all my pencil marks, on top of the grey.
In progress
When I had finished the white, I painted the "routered" edge of the wood white. Then I figured out where I would place the keys
I attached a poster hanger to the back by imbedding the "legs" in hot glue so there would be a space where the nail head could lodge.
Then nailed in 1/2 inch long "penny" nails. I held the nails with log nose plyers so I would not lose any more nails than I already have!
Then I hung the keys and put it up on the wall. We are not sure if we want to put a dab of hot glue behind each one to make them hang straight, but for now, we like them crooked!
