Appliqued Kitchen Towels

Applique is one of the easiest ways to embellish a plain tea towel.
I had this idea for Mother's Day {although it would work for any type of gift}. I wanted to take some tea towels and appliqué a tea-related theme.
I had this idea for Mother's Day {although it would work for any type of gift}. I wanted to take some tea towels and appliqué a tea-related theme.
I used Aunt Martha flour sack tea towels that I purchased at Hobby Lobby. I used a coupon so two tea towels cost about $6.
I have a huge stash of scraps so I pulled out some colors I liked and gave my tea towels and fabric scraps a quick press.
Next, I centered my design on my towels.
And then began cutting out out my teacups and teapot. I used a Silhouette machine for cutting out the designs, however, I've included templates on my blog.
