Can You Burn Candles In Your Plumbing Pipe?

Can you burn candles in your plumbing…pipe? I can! You all know I love a good industrial or plumbing pipe project and I have some more great ones coming for you. Today I am bringing you an easy, yet stylish, one.
You may have seen my Industrial Dining Room Reveal – well ever since I made over that room I have wanted a plumbing pipe candelabra for the table. Well… a couple of things you should know here …. one almost exactly like mine sells for $119 on Etsy! Yep…$119! And you can do it for about $19 by ordering online!

You can design your own piece and make it as big or small as you want. You are only limited by your imagination really.

Here’s what you need for this particular candelabra … besides the candles of course ;-)
5 – 3/4″ to 1/2″ reducing coupling

1 – 1/2″ cross

6 – 1/2″ 90 degree elbows

11 – 1/2″ close

5 – 1/2″ tees

1 – 1/2″ by 8″ (or however tall you want your holder) nipple

Now before you run out and buy all of the supplies I will tell you that I made this for about $19 by getting my supplies at EssentialHardware.com. This was my first order with them and I was incredibly pleased with the prices and the super fast shipping. So I would highly suggest trying them out. You can of course get these supplies locally at the big box hardware stores but the prices are a good bit higher.

A little prep work – make sure you wash your plumbing pipe pieces – they will really leave your hands nasty. I ran a tub of warm water and dishwashing liquid to get the grease off and then just scrubbed them good and let them dry.

Ok…here we go…get ready…this project should take you about 10 minutes :-)
Make your base first. Use an elbows and screw a close into it (this is basically a piece that is a male end for each of the female ends of the pipe). Then screw a tee onto that close. Repeat with a close and then a tee. Use the same process to make the other leg.

Then you are going to put a close on the ‘head’ of each of the tees before screwing a tee to connect the two sides. This tee will need to face upward because it is going to hold your ‘candle stick.’
