This diamond tile coaster tutorial uses 4 inch ceramic tiles with one of the corners cut off. This makes the square into a diamond shape. Once the tile is cleaned off and dry you can trace the perimeter and draw a faceted pattern onto the tile.
Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes to set the design!
Begin by cutting one corner of the tile off. This will make the square tile into a diamond shape. You can use a tile saw (follow these directions) or a manual tile cutter. Rinse off the tile and let it completely dry. Now you are ready to draw the design onto the tile.
Outline the perimeter using a ruler and black permanent marker, then draw a line straight across connecting the two corners. If you mess up, the permanent marker can be removed with rubbing alcohol. Apply the alcohol to a cotton ball, rub off the design and then wash and dry the tile and start again.
Use a washable marker to mark the center of the top of the diamond and also to mark the center line into thirds.
Use a ruler to connect the marks with the permanent marker so the design looks like the diamonds in the next photo.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes to make the design permanent.

The shape of that tile could also be used for Superman or Supergirl. -
