College Dorm Room Area Rug on a Budget

Let's face it, college is expensive so who wouldn't want to save some money and have a chance to add your personality to your dorm? This carpet remnant area rug is the perfect option for a dorm room or even a rental that needs some pizzaz. Or what about the game room in your own home to help protect your floor?
Why is it so perfect you ask... It's easy, it's cheap (I bought mine 10 for $2), you can personalize it AND the best part, if one square gets a stain on it all you have to do is replace that square! Seriously, does that scream college rooms and teen rooms? This is a simple overview, for the complete tutorial follow the link at the bottom of this post.
This simple DIY area rug only takes a few simple supplies. Carpet remnant samples, a carpet knife, a square or a square object and Duck Tape! I tested a couple different utility tapes but found the Duck Tape brand to be the strongest. It turned out to be a great way to use up the left overs from other Duck Tape projects.
The first thing you will want to do is lay out the remnant squares and move them around until you get the pattern you want.
As you cut your squares lay them facedown so you keep your pattern the same. Now just tape it all together making sure to push the carpet backs together.
