DIY Dollar Store Cake Stands
I love all cake/cupcake stands and I am not sure why. I just do. I made these myself using dollar store items and DecoArt Chalky Finished for Glass. You will love this!
I started with a flat candle holder plate and I milk bottle vase from the dollar tree. I also had (affiliate link) DecoArt Chalky Finishes For Glass paint.
I painted the bottom of the candle plate and the outside of the vase. I used one coat but I painted it on pretty heavy.
After the paint was dry I sanded lightly with a sanding block.
Then bake the pieces according to the instructions of the paint bottle. This will make them dishwasher safe. Place them on a baking sheet and place them in the oven. Then turn the oven on and bake them for 30 minutes. Turn off the oven and let them cool altogether.
Use E6000 to glue the vase to the candle plate. Give it a good 24 hours to cure. You can varnish them if you would like a satin finish but I am not sure the varnish would also be dishwasher safe.
Then you are done. They are so cute!
What do you think? I love them.

Eroque022810 on Aug 24, 2017Michelle, these are to darn cute. I imagine that you can also use this with larger pieces of glass plates and holders. I think that it would be nice to see a 4"legs" one, using smaller holder's you are using 4 for balance and stability. I understand about stands,to me they look elegant. Anything on them just looks better, even if you don't bake a store bought cake, pie or cookies, look great.
