DIY Mirrored Concrete Tray

Crafting with concrete is a lot of fun! Add some mirrors to it for even more glamor with an industrial touch.
I recently made a mirrored console table where I used a lot of small mirrors. They were sitting next to the concrete and inspiration struck! A mirrored concrete tray!

I started with a box that fit the piece of mirror and also had enough clearance around it.

To protect the mirror from the concrete and create an edge, I covered it with cardboard pieces cut to just a tad smaller than the mirror. I held it down with a few pieces of scrap wood.

I poured concrete around the edges. I used my (aff) new favorite concrete mix. It is lightweight and cures real fast. 5-6 hours later, I peeled off the cardboard and let the tray cure for one more day.

24 hours later, I gave the tray a light sanding with a high grit sand paper to remove any uneven edges. I also gave it some fun detail with white paint. It makes a really nice glamorous gift for any occasion. Since the edge is thick, it can also stand on its side to make a mirror with a concrete frame. So, it can be used any way you prefer. Check out my original post to see more pictures and details with the full tutorial.

What a cool idea. I love things made with the concrete-look. I have been wanting to try something like this for months, I just dont have the nerve. I looks like fun, you did a good job. Thanks for sharing.
