DIY Spring Mini Wood Riser

Material List

One mini round chopping board

I picked mine up at Hobby Lobby on sale from $7.99 to $4.79

One pack of tissue paper - Mauve floral $ 1.49

Paint

I'm using white, and a light lavender color

Mod Podge

Paintbrush

Hot glue or E6000- I ended up using my E6000 adhesive

My total cost for this project was around $7

Start by taking your paint brush and applying a layer of your mod podge onto the top surface of your cutting board.

Next, take your tissue paper, and lay a layer of it on top of the mod podge. Be sure to smooth out any wrinkles, or bubbles that may show up when applying your tissue paper.

Once you lay your tissue paper on top, take your paintbrush, and apply a layer of mod podge onto your tissue paper.

Once you have applied your tissue paper, you can take a heat gun, or blow dryer and apply some heat to help with the drying process. Be sure to set it on low heat.

Once your mod podge is completely dry, take your scissors and cut around the outer sections around your cutting board. You want to remove any extra tissue paper around the outer section. You can also use a sanding block.

I used scissors because I wanted just a little tissue paper around the outer section.

Once you have cut any extra tissue paper, apply some of your mod podge around your cutting board. This will apply any leftover tissue paper on the outer section.

Allow the mod podge to completely dry.

Now you're ready to apply your paint. Start off with your purple paint, and apply it around the outer section below the tissue paper. I applied around two coats of paint.

Next, flip your board and apply your purple paint to the bottom side of your board. Be sure to completely cover the bottom surface with your paint.

Set your board aside, and allow it to dry.

Next, take your wood pegs, and apply white paint to fully cover each peg. I used around two coats of paint on each peg.

Once your wood pegs are completely dry, flip your cutting board, and attach them using either hot glue or any other adhesive of your choice. I used E6000.

Allow the pegs to dry, and once dry you can flip them over.
