How To Make a Candy Jar Out of a Pickle Jar

This week I put together three gift baskets for our new neighbors. This is my first time making and delivering the baskets so I hope they like them! Most of the items were bought or donated but I wanted to add a personal touch. So, I did a quick DIY candy jar for each basket!

Naturally I started with a pickle jar! These are the perfect size for so many projects and an item that most people have on hand at any given time. They are the ideal size for DIY candy jars for my baskets! And, they are free!
Prep
I started by scraping off the labels with a flat razor. You can soak them in hot soapy water but I was in a hurry. Once most of the label was removed, I ran them through the dishwasher to remove any lingering residue or smells. I washed the lids as well.
Spray-Time!
Then I spray painted the lids and old knobs with Valspar Metallic Gold spray paint (Brilliant-metal effects). Once dry I glued a knob on top of each lid with E6000 glue. (my favorite glue!)

Almost ready
Next, I added Hershey’s Chocolate kisses to each jar and tied a piece of jute ribbon around the neck of each jar. I screwed a finished lid on each jar and wahlah! A cute little candy jar filled with kisses for the new neighbors! The jars are quick and easy to put together and add a personal touch to the baskets. The cost was minimal. The pickle jars, knobs, paint, and jute were items I had on hand. The only expense was a large bag of Hershey’s Kisses and one bag filled all three jars. Perfect!

This is a pickle jar filled w shredded bills lol, jk, then I glue sprayed the "class of 2016" in black construction paper to the jar. I then put a "superstar" stick inside the jar! Everyone liked them so of course they got to take them home!
