Ikea Doll Bed Makeover

If you would like to see how I transformed my daughters basic Ikea doll bed in a few simple steps follow the instructions below. This bed is now perfectly fit for a little princess!
For this project you will need:
- paint
- polycrylic sealer
- paint brushes
- scissors
- sandpaper
- pins and tread
- fabric
- ruler
- batting
If you haven’t already built the doll bed, go ahead and do that following the simple directions provided.
Before you begin, give the doll bed a light sanding to smooth out any rough spots. Proceed with two coats of paint and finish it off with two coats of poly sealer. The sealer is optional but will ensure that your doll bed stays looking great for a long time.
To make the mattress all you need to do is take the base of the bed and trace around the fabric leaving one extra inch of fabric on each side. You will need to cut out two pieces this size.
Place the two pieces of fabric on top of each other, right sides together. You will sew along all of the edges leaving a 5”opening at the bottom. Once sewn, flip the fabric right side out through the opening that was not sewn. Stuff with batting and sew the opening closed. This can be done by hand or sewing machine.
tip: You can use stuffing from an old pillow or stuffed animal you no longer need.
You will repeat the same process as above, tracing around the original pillow and quilt that came with the bed. For more advanced sewers a pretty edging with coordinating fabric can be added to the quilt.
Put all the pieces you made together, it’s time to “make the bed”.
This bed now looks good enough for you to take a nap in!
