Leather Wrapped Vase

I was inspired by a higher end product to create this DIY leather wrapped vase. Similar versions from online shops retail for well over $100. I recreated this version for under $10 using a dollar store vase and some craft store supplies.
For supplies you will need the following:
- Leather (I buy the scrap packs in bulk from Hobby Lobby)
- Leather Cord (Also purchased in scrap packs from Hobby Lobby)
- Glass vase from the Dollar Store
- Leather Punch and Hammer (you can also use a drill with a bit)
- Blade to cut the leather to size
The leather I used was in a pre-cut square, but if needed, cut your leather to the preferred size for your vase.
Measure out your spacing for the holes. I made marks every inch down the sides of the leather.
You will need to do this on each end.
Using the leather punch and a hammer I punched out my holes down the length. If you don't have a leather punch you could also use a drill bit or an ice pick.
Using leather cord or string, tie a knot at one end.
Wrap the leather around your vase, and weave your cord through the holes in your preferred pattern.
Once you're finished, you can tie it off at the end and fill the vase your favorite filler or florals. I used dried beans for fall, and plan to add some greenery for the holiday season.
Overall, a similar look for a fraction of the high end cost.

I love this. Now I want to add a gold band at the top. What to use? Any ideas?
