If you need sore muscle relief, or help for a minor sprain, you can easily make this DIY heating pad for that! Great for camping, or when you don't have access to electricity.
Grab an old sock, some rice and essential oils.
fill the sock with 1 cup rice
Add essential oils as desired. I used 20 drops of lavender. Other oils to use would be peppermint, or orange for their cooling and uplifting properties. Those would be great for using on a sore neck or shoulders.
place in a colander over a pot of boiling water to heat. You don't want to get it wet, just hot.
place on sore area. The heat will last for about 2 hours to help relieve the pain.

Suggested materials:
- Old sock (laudry room)
- Rice (grocery store)
- Essential oils (health food store)

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
Can you reuse the same rice and oil, or is it a one time only application. Will the rice when steamed become funky? If not.
I will like to try and make a belly ache hugger. Instead of a sock, a stuffed animal. Make a pouch with the rice &oil, when needed heat up, stuff it in.
I'm sure there's someone who's mom and or grandparent might have used
Why don’t you put the sock in the microwave to heat? Is that allowed?
I wonder if this could be done in a microwave?
