Plastic Toy Truck Makeover

Do you have a plastic toy truck (or any large plastic toy) that has seen better days? It is shockingly easy to give it a complete makeover! Here is how I made over this plastic John Deere truck that our neighbor gave us.
Here is what the truck looked like before. There is nothing wrong with it - just our neighbors kept it outside so it was dirty and faded. I decided to spruce it up!
First, wipe or wash it completely. Then, if there are stickers, you will want to remove them. I used a flat screwdriver to scrape them off and they came off easily. If they leave behind a sticky residue, oil (IE olive oil, coconut oil, vegetable oil, etc) will help get rid of stickiness. Wipe all the sticker off and make it very clean.
Decide if there is anything you DON'T want to paint. I wanted the wheels to stay black. So, I covered them with plastic. You could also use painters tape to cover smaller areas.
Spray paint completely. Use many thin coats to avoid drips. Here are my best tips for spray painting. Allow to dry completely - over night is best - before handling.
Enjoy! You can see I painted the dump part of the truck gold and the body blue. They came apart so it was easy to paint them separately. I also added my son's name to the front! Get creative!!
