Yes...remove the carpeting so the floor will be completely flat. It would be impossible to remove it once you build the shelves.Helpful Reply -

Yes, remove the carpeting. You can always 'close in' the bottom with a baseboad and or cabinetry doors, rather than have to match that space to the new wood flooring.Helpful Reply -
