How do I find tight-fitted bed sheets?

by Margaret0579

I am at my wits end for a good night of sleeping. Years ago I could buy a Cannon Fitted sheet and it fit the bed really tight and did not have wrinkles. Today, I cannot find a sheet for a queen bed that fits snug. I have tried using those elastic clips to no avail. Mattresses come in so much different thickness today that I do not have the least idea to get them to fit right. Also the Microsoft material does not let you slide very much at all. I want a good night's sleep with a tight fitted sheet. Thank you!

I buy king size and really tuck it under. Works great for me.

If you look on Amazon, you'll see sheets in 6-9" depth, as well as larger depths. Avoid those they read " fits up to 17" depth mattress".

I don't like microfiber either. I always use cotton sheets.

To get a snugger fit you might try sewing an additional band of heavyweight elastic along the gathered hem so it cinches tighter under the mattress.

I appreciate the feedback and I think I will try sewing the elastic and pulling it tighter and see if this works. If so, will let you know.

Hi, Margaret, if the sheet corners are too large, try pleating them while on your bed, then sewing in place. Fitting 2" wide swimsuit and underwear elastic from Dritz along the sides, about 8"-10" from each corner, under the mattress will definitely tighten the corners to those you remember. You'll need to make opposite 45 degree cuts with pinking shears at opposite ends of each piece of elastic (x4). I folded over the pinked edges then sewed repeatedly, for additional reinforcement.

You can see videos of this on you tube. Length of elastic will depend upon tightness you prefer and size of your mattress.

I guarantee they don't slip. Remember to launder on no more than warm, dry on cool temperatures to maintain elastic's longevity.
