How do I cover lampshades with fabric or ribbon?

I am looking for creative ideas, or just basic ones, about covering my old lampshades with
ribbon or fabric...I want to change the look of them at my will...I don't know how I would
attach them...I suppose glue...I am just not experienced in this. I would not use thick
fabric, just somewhat thinner. I would want the wider type of ribbon and how to attach it.

You could weave material like they do on lawn chairs,as to securing them could be a Velcro or small hook like picture hooks if the lampshade is wire to hold the shape. The other idea is to sew material with elastic.for top and bottom to keep shape.depending on type of shade. Most shades type is like a drum.so i would do a rectangle sew ends together, sew 1/2 hem on top and bottom, thread elastic through top/bottom.put over shade wire.and enjoy
