Using pegboard I made a really cool upholstered headboard that turned out awesome. I used batting a white fabric and used the holes in the pegboard to run my thread and buttons into. It was a really easy! -

The easiest way is to use a thin ply wood and cut it in a head board shape, cover it with quilting batting, and then staple some material over it. simple, cheap, and put 2 x 4's on ends to attach the frame of the bed
