Quick Recycled Potholders - for Beginner Sewists!
All it takes are very basic sewing skills to sew super easy potholders. You can use repurposed fabric and old towels so that you don't have to spend a cent!
Make a super simple square one, or get a little more adventurous with a circle or heart. Or make a larger one to use as a trivet!
You can also add a loop of ribbon, cord or twill tape as an optional hanger.
Cut out two pieces of regular cotton fabric (don't use polyester, acrylic or other synthetic materials, which can melt!) and two pieces from an old towel in the shape/size you prefer.

Position the pieces together. Start with one regular fabric, good side facing up. On top of that put the other regular fabric, good side facing down. The put the two towel pieces on those, pin them together, and sew all around with a thick 110 needle, leaving a gap in the center of one edge. Snip off the corners as seen here.
Flip the pieces right side out and iron the potholder flat. Pin a loop of ribbon inside the opening if you want a hanger. Then sew all around the edges.
Ta da! All done! Now get cooking!
