A Pottery Barn Knock Off With a Twist...

While walking through Pottery Barn with my husband just over a month ago I spotted their Christmas display...and I fell in love with one of their signs. Since I knew I couldn't afford to buy it, I decided to try and make my own. I gathered some scrap 1x2's and 1/2 inch plywood pieces from my free wood stash and cut them to size. As I was painting my scrap pieces of plywood (I made two signs) a thought struck me..."Why not make the signs reversible?" So I did, and I am loving the results! I can use one side of the sign all year long then flip it over in December, and I have my Pottery Barn Knock Off sign ready for the holidays! One less Christmas decoration to store!
Here I am painting one side of the boards red for the PB knock off signs, and staining the other sides for my "all year long" signs.
I designed my stencil to look like the PB Sign on my Cricut and then cut it on contact paper and stenciled it on my boards.
Pulling off the stencil on the reverse side. I had previously dry brushed blue over the stained wood.
To make my frame, I attached stained 1x2 boards around the 1/2 inch thick plywood signs with glue and a nail gun. That is it!
