DIY Barn Board Dining Room Wall
Our dining room was in a sad state, for a while. We moved in a replaced a broken ceiling fan with a pendant light fixture and freshened the walls with a can of white paint and that was it. It's in a weird place at the centre of the home and has three doorways - to the living room, to the kitchen and into my office, so finding a 'wall treatment' was a challenge because you can see the space from so many angles.
Then one day, we spotted barn board! It was a great solution! The grey wash is technically a neutral and we also knew we could install it on a half wall and it would add warmth and style to the boring space without having to change any of the other elements.
We cut down the boards into four different measurements that fit our space and allowed us to stagger them. (In our case it was 48", 36", 18" and 9").
Then we found the studs and marked them and used a basic nail gun to put the boards on the wall. Since it was barn board, some of the boards are imperfect and we had to hammer them in a bit with a mallet and there are a few gaps, but that adds to the charm, I think.
And there it is now! I love how it really created a feel in the room!
