DIY - Joy Christmas Sign

Hi all! I am joining up with a blog hop hosted by Hometalk.com and CountryLiving.com. I created a Joy Christmas Sign as part of this blog hop. But I couldn't just show the joy sign without a peek at what else was in my Christmas display. Almost all of the items in this picture are handmade.
So now back to the Joy Christmas Sign. This sign was super easy to make and was pretty much free since I had all the supplies on hand.
For the next step I glued and nailed the pressed plywood and laths to the back of the 1x4s.
Next I painted the front with two coats of white chalk paint and sanded it to add a worn look.
Now it was time to paint the letters. I created a "JOY" stencil using my Silhouette Cameo. No worries if you don't have a cutting machine. Print out the word JOY in your favorite font, cut out the letters, trace and paint.
Once the paint dried I sanded the red letters.
Then I painted it over the entire sign in sections. I let each sections dry for a few seconds then wiped with a paper towel. Depending on how worn I wanted it to look I left the paint/water mix on longer.
Here are a few close ups.
And once again with the whole Christmas family.
