I love when I find an easy peasy DIY for my home. Home decor is something that can be expressive and show off your personality. It can inspire, make you laugh or give you hope. A scroll wall hanging can do all of these things. I love quotes, sayings and jokes and I love to change them. When I discovered scroll wall hangings, I was so excited about changing up the saying whenever I want. Keep reading and I’ll show you just how easy it really is to make your own.

First let’s gather our materials:

• roll of paper (I chose white)

• jute, twine or thin rope

• 2 bobby pins

• markers

Many people like the brown paper rolls. I do like the brown paper, but since this roll is going on a colored wall, I decided the white would pop a little more and add a little more contrast.

The first thing I did was unroll the end of the paper roll. Then I tightly rolled up the end and placed a Bobby pin on each side. This keeps the end from curling up and secured in place. You can use paper clips or even scotch tape instead of Bobby pins. I like to use what I have available or on hand to keep costs of my DIY’s to a minimum. So don’t be afraid to get creative.

Once the end of the paper is secure, you’ll want to choose your quote, joke, funny saying or bible verse. Then you’ll unroll the paper and determine how much you’ll need.

**Remember, you can roll up either end of the scroll, so if you unroll more than you need, just adjust one end or the other.**

Several things you’ll want to consider: the length of your verbiage, if you’ll be adding any doodles, florals, foliage, swirls or boarders, the type of markers you are using and the color scheme.

Check the thickness of the paper before you begin to write. You may need a scrap piece or two underneath so the ink doesn’t seep through.

After you have your verbiage on the scroll and all art work or doodling is finished, you’ll thread the jute, rope or string through the tube of the scroll and tie it off. I like to tie mine in a bow. You can choose to have the bow/knot visible or hide it in the tube.

One thing I like to do is embellish the saying with glitter, stickers, anything that you would like.

Finally, you are ready to hang your scroll. Choose a spot where you will see it everyday or where all who enter your home will see it. Change the quote as often or as little as you like.
