We're expecting a baby girl this spring and I'm having so much fun getting the nursery ready for her arrival. She has a large blank closet and I decided to add a pretty wallpaper in there for a pop of color and pattern. This was my first time using "real" wallpaper, so I was a little nervous about how it would go. Luckily, it was incredibly easy and dare I!

You can find all of the steps & tips in this blog post.

Nursery Closet - Before

Here's the closet before I got my hands on it. It was just begging for a little TLC!

Wallpaper Supplies

First, you need to buy the wallpaper and buy enough of it. I ended up getting two rolls for this closet (that measured about 53″ across and 95″ high) and had a lot leftover. Keep in mind, there will be waste from having to match up the patterns. So you’ll need more than you think. You'll also need a level, tape measure, seam roller, paste and brush, a smoothing tool, and utility knife.

Draw a Level Line

Figure out where you'll place your strip. Because of my pattern, I started in the middle of the closet. I drew a level line vertically on the wall.

Apply Paste

This is a paste the wall type paper, so I used a lot of paste on the wall. I found that it was easier if I put more on because then I could wiggle the strips around to get them perfectly positioned.

Hang & Cut

With the paste on, I put my first strip on following the level line and used my smoothing tool to get rid of any bubbles. I then used a metal smoothing tool and utility knife at the bottom to cut off the excess wallpaper.

I repeated these same steps throughout the closet.

Nursery Closet - After

Here's what the closet looks like now! I love the subtle rose gold color and organic pattern with those trees in here.
