Hi Angela,
I would use a steamer and a plastic scraper........Good luck!
If the wallpaper has been up for a very long time, you probably will cause some damage when you remove it. That's just part of the process. https://www.familyhandyman.com/walls/the-best-way-to-remove-wallpaper/
Hello Angela! Hopefully the wallpaper that is on your walls now was applied properly to the drywall--the walls should have been primed and/or painted first--if they were not it will be much harder to get the wallpaper off without doing some damage. Hopefully you can get your wallpaper off with either no damage or minimal damage that is easy to repair. The wallpaper solution that I find to be most effective is cheap fabric softener and water. Once you remove the top tear away portion of the wallpaper, it softens the underpaper and the glue. I use a plastic scraper to move the paper once it has been soaked with the fabric softener solution and then wipe NUMEROUS times to get the glue off changing the water/fabric softener solution frequently as well as the rags/sponges I use to clean off all the glue.

Seaming is my preferred method. Any time you remove wallpaper, one must expect at least some damage.

The end result will be worth the effort.
Peel as much as possible from the walls.
If you can't get to the backing, you may need to score the paper with a tool. Paper Tiger is easy to find. Light pressure because you don't want to damage the wall behind the paper.
Mix 50/50 fabric softener & warm water in a spray bottle or garden sprayer. I've read that vinegar is as effective but I have never used it.
Allow the mixture to sit for 5 - 10 minutes so that it saturates the adhesive on the paper backing.
Scrape with a plastic scraper.
Once it is all removed, wash the walls with warm soapy water (blue Dawn is my go-to) and a microfiber cloth.
