Repurposed Shutter Photo Display

In this project, I repurpose a small shutter into a fun new way to display your photos.
I painted the shutter with two coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Drop Cloth. I then distressed the shutter edges, and smoothed the inner areas of the shutter with 150 grit sandpaper.
I found this sheet of fun rub on transfers at Hobby Lobby from the Paper Studio. Unfortunately, I don't see this particular style on the Hobby Lobby website any longer, but it may be available in the stores.
To apply these rub ons, I cut out the saying I wanted to use, removed the white paper backing, placed the rub on in place, and rubbed it on with the enclosed stick (that looks like a Popsicle stick). Don't apply too much pressure on the rub on until you have it in place.
I also used rub ons with old graters to display photos HERE.
This Westcott Stainless Steel Office Ruler with Non Slip Cork Base was attached to the top of the shutter with screws. Two new, small holes were drilled in the ruler.
My last steps were to wax the rub ons and paint with a light coat of Dixie Belle Best Dang Wax in Clear. I used an INTEX SUPPLY Fiber Rag to apply and wipe off the excess wax.
A sawtooth hanger was added to the back of the shutter for hanging, and magnets were hot glued to metal buttons to display the photos of my son from the 1990's.
Above the shutter is a cabinet door photo display project. Details HERE.
