I've had some fun with sign making lately. They are easy projects and make fantastic DIY gifts. I want to share my tips for using vinyl stencils to create a beautiful farmhouse sign.
A friend of mine salvaged a console table - its wood planks with a metal edge.  I just couldn't figure out how to make it into a table again, so it's now a "BAKERY" sign hanging in my kitchen!
Another friend has this super cool vinyl machine, and can make anything with a few clicks of a mouse (of course on my end it seems that simple). I had her make this vinyl stencil in a custom size to fit the table top.
Peel back the vinyl.  I was super impressed with how clean the lines were.  The fact that this is a sticker and not just a plastic stencil was super helpful to keeping those lines nice and crisp.
Use a razor blade to get the little middle pieces up.
Distress it just a bit to give it an aged look.
LOVE it!  A quick and easy project that adds farmhouse character to my kitchen's eating area.
